Good horses make good men; good men don’t make good horses.
A sheep can be sheared many times, but skinned only once.
You have to know what you want before you can get what you want.
Always watch whose toes you step on because you never know who you may dance with next.
You don’t know you’ve done too much until you’ve done too much.
Trainer, Coach, and Manager
Gary has been in the horse business as a professional horse trainer and coach for 40 plus years. Since training his first horse at the age of 14, he has owned and/or trained more than 125 Register of Merit horses, 60+ AQHA Superior Award horses and numerous Congress and World Show champions.
In addition to training champion horses, he has coached many youth and adult champion exhibitors. Gary has enjoyed the privilege of being an AQHA judge for the past 30+ years and a National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) judge since the beginning of the NSBA. In addition to his judging privileges, Gary is the NSBA Judges Monitor, an AQHA Steward, and a member of the AQHA Professional Horseman’s Association. A very active founding member of the NSBA, Gary is also a Jack Benson Award recipient, a past president of the NSBA, and served as a member of the selection committee for NSBA judge applicants.
He feels his induction into the NSBA Hall of Fame in 2002 by his peers to be one of his greatest honors. For more than ten years, he has been an instructor at the annual International Equine Judges Seminar. In addition to judging, coaching, and showing throughout the United States and abroad, Gary has participated as a clinician on numerous occasions at the Congress and Equine Affair, as well as at clinics conducted in Australia, Canada, and England. Gary looks forward to meeting you and sharing many of his “Trubeeisms” for which he is well known.
